Last chance to vote for miracle pets

Time is running out for people to vote for their favourite miracle pet in PDSA’s annual Pet Survivor Awards.

I had the difficult job of selecting six brave dogs and cats from hundreds of heart-warming entries after a nationwide search.

But now it’s up to the public to decide who wins.

The finalists have all beaten death by a whisker thanks to the expertise of their vet teams, their owner’s devotion and of course the pet’s own survival spirit.

In no particular order, the finalists are:

Honey the cat – blasted in the face with a marble-sized metal ball-bearing.

n Ozzy the cat – lost his leg after being attacked by a dog.

n Penny the Pointer – lived to tell the tale after a 50mph collision with a lorry.

n Ruby the kitten – suffered severe chemical burns to her head and back.

n Suki the Miniature Schnauzer – was left with prolapsed intestines after a dog attack.

n Ziggy the Staffie – survived being shot through the head with a crossbow.

And choose carefully, as it’s one vote per person. Voting closes at midnight on Sunday, December 13.
