Now there’s a turn-up for the books, a decent Lord Mayor of Sheffield.

I’m sure Tony Downing knows a thing or two about the real Sheffield, who’s been around long enough to know what our city is all about, and the needs of its people.

I suspect he won’t be standing with his feet on the table, wearing a daft hat the wrong way round and banning folk from afar.

I’m not alone in saying goodbye and good riddance to Magid Magid, our rocking- around-town carnival clown, who in my opinion would be much better off placed in Brazil in the carnival parade, or working for celebrity shows on TV, than being let loose on the good city of Sheffield.

Now I’m not bitter or twisted, and do wish to thank Magid Magid personally for at least putting Sheffield on the map.

What would we have done without him?

Until he came along no- one knew Sheffield existed, now the world and his wife knows where we are, and is heading our way.

Thanks a lot mate and good riddance.
