Firm's £41m won't stop congestion

I READ with interest (Aug 15) comments made by Stagecoach about their investment of £41m in new vehicles. This will not get people back on to their buses or any other company's buses.

It will only add to further congestion on Sheffield city centre roads.

On one of many trips this year to the Hallamshire Hospital I left my car at home like a good citizen and caught the tram from Hackenthorpe to the University stop and walked the remainder.

On my return journey, because of persistent rain I caught the 41 bus outside the hospital with the intention of staying on to Hackenthorpe village.

I was on the bus at 17-05 but it did not arrive in Pond Streeet until 17-55 , and the onward journey to Hackenthorpe took a further 40 minutes. A total of 90 minutes. This is the reason people won’t get out of their cars...and the price of fares!

And it doesn’t matter how many buses First or Stagecoach put on the road it will not solve this problem as cars, buses and trams all use the same congested corridors.
