Shaun Says: The Green shoots are shooting up!
After a bitterly fought cam-paign in Gorton and Denton, a place I know well from my university days, The Green Party has a new MP, Hannah Spencer, a Mancunian, working class, plumber/plasterer, dog breeder and from what we’ve seen an all round good egg.
As expected, while the Labour Party is being fairly dignified in defeat, having not only lost the seat, but being relegated into third place, The Reform Party and its “Leader” have immediately called foul, citing cheating and vote manipulation, and saying this is all the doing of the “evil Islamists”.

It was a standard by election, all parties had their campaigns, evidently the people of Gorton and Denton were unconvinced in the majority by Reform’s millionaires, with their xenophobic, hate filled agenda. Working class communities are concerned with the cost of living, the downgrading of the NHS, the safety of their children in education, and in increasing numbers, they aren’t being fooled by people who have nothing in common with them, public school city trading millionaires who are just driven by greed.
The question now, is how this will play out in the rest of the country, local elections are coming up, and if people are as disillousioned with Labour and unconvinced by Reform as seems to be the case, will we see the Green Party taking on councils and gaining more seats in parliament?
Personally, I don’t see the Greens as flawless, some of their support for fairly draconian policies is a concern, but they are looking with a close eye at the real issues, not fear of a bogeyman from the imagination of some racists.
I hope so, I hope this will give Labour a wake up call, and make them realise they are more in common with reform than they want to acknowledge, and I hope most of all that the majority have cottoned on to the big con trick being played by the posh boys. What is certain is, many decent people have woken today with a big beautiful smile on their faces, while the odious, the creeps, the divisives, the cruel, are absolutely fuming or devastated. For me, and I do speak solely for me, there is nothing in the world that is more glorious to behold than the imminent burst blood vessels and rivers of tears of the fascist. Long may that continue, and we can truly make our country a nice place to be.
