Sadly, one of our biggest fears as human beings is the unknown.

Uncertainty in the face of emergency can bring out the worst in any of us, a part of us that we never would have believed was even in there.

We have a source of good news that holds the certainty, assurance and hope of eternity.

We call it the Bible.

I like to think of it as the writings of a loving parent desperately trying to reach out to all of his children.

We are all equal in the eyes of God our maker.

Sex, nationality, social status mean nothing to God, he loves each and every one of us the same.

In these difficult days we cannot turn to our familiar idols of the world of sport, music or any other such things.

We see that even they are affected by this enemy.

In fact, the only place of real solace and certainty is that of the God who made us and cares for us.

It has been said that the bible is the story of ordinary men and woman struggling through life, wrestling with a God that is to immense for them to grasp.

Noah spent years telling the people of the problems to come, they ignored him and continued in their own way.

When disaster came God closed those who listened in, to protect them and rescue them from the disaster which humanity had created for themselves!

It is true that the Bible can seem ancient and hard to believe in modern society.

But, who would have believed we would be locked in our own homes by our own Prime Minister, for our own protection?

Yet, here we are!

We have ignored God a long time and tried to do it our own way, the results are clear.

But he is a loving parent calling to us all.

‘The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.’ Psalm 34:17-18

‘He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God’ Psalm 46
