Now is the time to reflect on what really matters

Today we are realising what, and who, are actually important in this world. Billionaires once held up as icons are asking for handouts, the same people whohaven’t contributed to the nation’s financial upkeep for years. They find every way possible to keep more for themselves.

Inequality and division grows and true happiness can never be truly known in such a heart, mindset and way of living!

Air is cleaner and the natural world suddenly, and quickly, seems like a better place!

A true saying we would be wise to hold to in today’s world is ‘feed need, not greed’.

I believe we are at a crossroads that is familiar to my memory. Some years back, I faced a choice to believe in this strange, ancient message of a God who created the world, a man who was God, who died, and yet is alive, or continue to stumble on searching for happiness in my own way.

The more I looked into these things, with a sincerely open mind, the harder it became to ignore.

The process of growing, changing and learning was not always easy, but, now, I can say I know what happiness is.

Many times I stumbled my way through, sometimes I still do. Old habits, instincts and the streets of Glasgow and all that comes with it will always be with me.

John Chapter 21 tells of the disciples out fishing. They had been out all night and caught nothing.

In less than a minute, at the instruction of Jesus they filled the nets, just by changing their way and

following him.

Later, in conversation, Jesus tells Peter that whatever else is going on in other people’s lives, he simply must follow Jesus.

Peter made many mistakes. In that story it could be said he was falling back into his old life and failed, badly.

It wasn’t long before that same Peter would be the leader of the fastest growing, most wide spreading movement the world has ever known. The Christian Church. One changed life!

It is a time to reflect upon what really matters. How to make a real difference. The first thing that

must change in any circumstance is quite simply the person.

We all want to change the world, but nobody wants to change!

There is only one system not built on fulfilling the greed and lust of the human nature. That is

the system of the One who created the world and did indeed die to save us from ourselves!
