Letter from guest editor John Burkhill: Keep smiling, be happy and, if in doubt, ask grandparents
and live on Freeview channel 276
I never can I forget my old teacher Ted Edwards. It is all about online stuff now and social media but that sort of thing is not for me as it takes us old uns a lot of time to work a mobile phone. At this present time, due to this terrible crisis we are going through now, it is vital that education doesn't come to a full stop. Some of the children of the key workers are still managing to get to school but for the rest it's a case of learning at home. During this lockdown it is vital that in our great city of Sheffield that the past can and must be remembered, not just for the children of today but the generations to come.
I can well remember when I was 14 years old delivering The Star and Green ‘Un. The Star kept us up-to-date with all the news. We had many many things going for us then. There was the ‘hole in the road’ – that was a first. I think many of your grandparents will remember sat there watching the fish in the fish tank.

I know that a lot of you will be wishing that you can be back with your friends at school because, yes, they become friends for life.
I am very lucky myself. I have a fantastic family behind me. My grandson Daniel keeps saying, I'll teach you social media online, Facebook.
He's got no chance!
Finally, keep safe, be happy and look after yourselves
Never forget we will all get through this because we are Sheffield … keep learning.
Keep smiling.
