Let’s hope we all have more understanding for each other

Isolation is getting is now becoming very much a way of life for me as I am sure others in similar position. However, it is by no means easier by practice, but I am in a far better place than those on front line, keeping us safe, but in turn putting themselves at risk -too many are sadly losing their lives.

I write this under the duvet, perhaps as a way of justifying the longer stays I am getting these days, as I hope for more active ones. I reflect on how much we rely on others to keep us going and perhaps now appreciate them more than ever.

The newspaper that still comes on time early morning and is a most welcome start to the day, read in bed before a leisurely shower – which would normally be taken at breakneck speed. Not a bad life is it!

I have a well-stocked fridge and freezer, thanks to family support, reminding me of all those in the vital chain to produce food for us all, such as farmers, delivery drivers, warehouse staff and not forgetting frontline checkout staff.

Local shops – such as one used by Manchester United and England footballer – and Sheffield lad – Harry Maguire to support the local elderly recently, are there for us when we need them , having time to chat when providing a vital social service.

Loneliness has become even greater problem since coronavirus and a kind word cannot be underestimated.

I do not take them and similar support trades for granted, as can only imagine the effect if they stay under their duvets.

With Prime Minister Boris Johnson balancing the risks to the economy with health ones, I get giddy at the thought of an easing of the lockdown although, unfortunately, some are already breaking discipline to operate their own version recently.

If the reasons are properly communicated and deemed fair they will be acceptable, as that generation have traditionally shown good discipline, but only it these tests are met,

I for one , will reflect that if such restrictions make it safer for my family , those brave front line staff and takes us further on the road to alleviation of this pandemic , I will reluctantly accept it.

Unfortunately, it seems growing numbers are not and, while sharing some of their frustrations, reflect on those who have paid the ultimate price and when hopefully prospects of easing of the Lockdown so tantalising close that we do not unnecessarily delay it.

Finally thanks to everyone who is a key part of the societal jigsaw who keep me and others safe and secure.’
