'Frustration with these times does not excuse certain actions'

Standing in a shop recently I was pondering how much I dislike these face coverings, although they are not necessarily a bad idea.

As previously stated, face covering is not necessarily a bad idea.

I reconfirm that thought every morning as I pass the mirror.

A young woman came in. When asked if she had a mask, she declared that she had an exemption, but when asked how she got it, she could not answer.

She was followed by a young man, who, upon hearing this conversation quickly declared he had a similar exemption.

I watch with interest as more and more countries appear to have an alarming number of cases appearing of this dreadful virus.

I wonder how quickly many of the people who have been, well, less than cautious will be quick to grumble and complain about this upturn, particularly if it should reach our shores.

Last week, I spoke of the understandable frustration of these times. I also said it does not make certain actions right or safe. Likewise, I spoke of an unchanging God who loves us enough to tell the

truth.

The truth is, our maker and Father loved us enough to give us what we call the Ten Commandments, or the great moral code.

They are perfect in that they give us the way to a relationship with each other, and yes, with God, that would fit exactly anyone’s description of how they would like life to be here on our planet.

He also loved us enough not to turn away and abandon us when we ignored, used and abused these commandments, or great principles for life.

Like the guidelines for today, they are not just for when it suits us. They are for our safety, protection and the preservation of our lives.

God did not abandon us; He went further and paid the price for our foolish disregard. He loved us enough to ensure our safety and the preservation of our life. However, He does not lie to us. He

makes it clear there is a way to preserve, enhance and enjoy our life to the full. However, like ignoring any virus or disease for a quick fix, much like ignoring any form of danger, there will be

consequences. Ultimately, we make our own choices and have no cause to grumble when we suffer the consequences thereof!

Particularly since God has been loving enough to clearly state the truth before us. Unlike the crowds we follow, mentioned last week, who may cheer us on for their own entertainment, God has greater

love than that. He is urging us to a far greater way, the only lasting way, because he loves us, he knows the long-term dangers and we are not some short-term form of entertainment of fix of

affection to him!
