Operations called off by patients

MORE than 100 non-essential operations were cancelled by patients on the day they were due to go ahead in Doncaster and Bassetlaw in July, official figures show.

Latest statistics released by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust show 102 operations were called off by patients during the month.

A further 24 operations were cancelled by the trust’s hospitals for non-clinical reasons.

In June, 109 operations were called off by patients on the day.

The figures refer to all the trust’s hospitals which include Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Mexborough Montagu and Bassetlaw Hospital.
