Online day is helping people get connected

Have your say

TECHNOPHOBES can overcome their fears and learn how to switch on to the internet at an event in Sheffield.

The Town Hall is hosting a Get Online day next Wednesday, October 17, between 10am and 2pm.

The event is being organised by Sheffield Council, Sheffield Homes and Heeley Development Trust.

Council leader, Coun Julie Dore, who will be opening the event, said: “Those skills, which so many of us take for granted these days, can be a real challenge for some. However, acquiring them really can improve and possibly transform your life.

“It’s never too late to enjoy the benefits of getting online, such as improving your job prospects, contacting your local council, using public services or just getting advice.”

There will be stalls showcasing online services and online experts on-hand to provide support. A free prize draw will give away Plusnet broadband for a year, and one lucky visitor will win a new laptop courtesy of Capita.
