The one thing you're BANNED from wearing at World Snooker Championships in Sheffield

The World Snooker Championships returns to Sheffield this month and fans are brimming with excitement.

Every year, snooker fans clamour into Sheffield's Crucible Theatre to watch the matches while others pack into the Winter Gardens for all the reaction.

The tournament starts on 21 April, with the final to be played on 6-7 May.

However, if you're heading to the tournament this year then you won't be able to wear your Sheffield Wednesday or Sheffield United shirt.

In fact, no football shirts will be allowed in the Crucible this year after after World Snooker banned them from the world famous venue.

A dress code has now been controversially introduced for the event and all fans have been requested to 'dress smartly' in the arena.

World Snooker posted on their website: "Sorry football fans…but from this year, spectators are requested to dress smartly in the arena.

"The Event Promoter requests that no sportswear or team sport shirts are worn. If in the opinion of the Event Promoter an item of clothing is not deemed suitable to wear in the arena the person will be refused admission until such time they have found an alternative item of clothing that is deemed acceptable."

Fans have also been reminded not to bring any suitcases or large holdalls as they event does not have enough space to store them.

All bags brought into the Crucible, or stored in the cloakroom, this year will be searched by security.

Customers may also be searched using hand held body scanners by security to prevent restricted items from entering the building.
