Well at last we have broken our hoodoo against Yeovil.
Last Friday’s win was the first time we have beaten them at home since returning to the Football League. It may not have been pretty to watch on Sky, but the three points were very welcome.
Tuesday night’s game at Charlton nearly had a sense of deja vu about it, with rumours that the kick- off would be delayed due to problems on the public transport system.
Several Rovers fan were late arriving and one supporter, who shall remain nameless, caught the bus from Greenwich, only to fall asleep and arrive in time for the last five minutes of the game!
He didn’t miss much. Albeit with an injury ravaged side, Rovers were poor. We only had one shot that keeper Ben Alnwick had to to save.
We badly need some reinforcements and it showed just how much we are missing Chris Brown.
Football is a cruel sport, and the Addicks fans were keen to remind us of being 3-1 up when the original game was abandoned in August. How vital will those three points be come the end of the season?
Thanks again to the club for putting on free coaches to the game. We took three coaches down there and there was a creditable 571 Rovers fans at the game.
This weekend sees a stern test against high-flying QPR.
With Harry Redknapp in charge, and Joey Barton playing, it could be interesting.
It would be very satisfying if we could give them a football lesson and show that money does not always buy success.
Can you remember that goal we scored against them involving the 30-odd passes? And also in the 1980s when we beat them at Belle Vue in the FA Cup with David Harle scoring?
I will be selling the Supporters’ Club Christmas Draw tickets again outside the Belle Vue Bar tomorrow. Come and say hello.
We play Birmingham at St Andrews on Tuesday night, and again we will be running coaches.
