Pat, who was born during the First World War, had two daughters who earlier this year paid tribute to their mum.

Jean Mowbray and Liz Gill described her as ‘a truly strong woman.’

Born in Larne in Northern Ireland in 1915, she moved to London to live with her aunt and uncle when she was six after her dad lost his job.

She went to work in a cafe at Epsom Racecourse and a store in London where staff had to hide in the basement during WW2 bombing raids.

She joined the ATS when she was 29 and helped bring down numerous German V-bombs and planes.

She met her late husband Sam and in 1947, they married and moved to Doncaster.

She has five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs Mackay, who was described as a ‘loving grandma and great grandma’ in an obituary, died on August 28.

The funeral service will take place at Rose Hill Crematorium today at 3pm.

This will be a private service for Pat's family due to coronavirus restrictions.
