Fans of possibly the biggest boy band since the Beatles took to Twitter in their droves on Monday (October 31) to lament the ongoing wait for 1D's reunion.But amid all the heartbreak, Directioners - as the group's mega-fans are known - have also fondly recalled how Harry Styles and co rocked the Steel City.One Direction played three nights at Sheffield Arena last autumn, culminating on October 31 with the final gig of their On The Road tour.Tickets changed hands for up to £10,000 online as desperate fans clamoured for a last view of their pop idols, who had announced plans for a one-year break.As a wave of hysteria swept the city, Louis, Harry, Niall and Louis did not disappoint, declaring Sheffield to be the "best place on earth".With no news yet of a date for the band's reunion, many fans viewed the anniversary as an occasion for mourning.But others were more upbeat, choosing to focus instead on their happy memories from those three glorious nights.The anniversary also prompted much discussion online about when One Direction would return, if at all.Most fans chose to keep faith in Doncaster-born Louis Tomlinson and his band mates.One confidently asserted that they would "keep their promise", while another quoted 1D's words that night: "This is the end of the OTRA Tour, not the end of One Direction".
