Sheffield Wednesday continued their mini-occupation of Wembley Stadium on-this-day a quarter of a century ago as they battled out the FA Cup final.

Ian Wright put Arsenal ahead after 21 minutes when he headed home Andy Linighan’s flick-on. But David Hirst (pictured) equalised just after the half hour from a John Harkes knockdown. Neither side could find a breakthrough in the remaining minutes, sending the game to a replay five days later, in which Arsenal triumphed 2-1.
