On form Barnsley hope to have Brad Potts on show against Coventry City

The influential midfielder missed Saturday's 1-1 draw with Walsall due to a thigh injury but boss Daniel Stendel is confident he will be fit in time for the Ricoh Arena game on Saturday.

"He is injured. We hope that he can play next week, but in the end he was too much of a risk for this week," the head coach said. A free week will help Potts' recovery and also give Stendel some time on the training ground as he continues to impress his methods on his squad.

The German added: 'We want one or two things to change. 

"We have more time to train together as a squad this week so the players can understand more want we want, so it's good for us and the players.

"It will be more relaxed and I hope that we come back fresh with new motivation to beat Coventry.

"I believe in the squad, I am proud of the squad and I think we stand up and next week we go on."

Stendel will have a decision to make in goal as Jack Walton continued to impress in the absence of Adam Davies, who will return from international duty.

Davies is the undisputed number one - and captain - at Oakwell but Walton will not give up the gloves easily.

"He had four clean sheets on the bounce and is doing well, which is good for the team. But it is my job to push him.

"Davo has played over 200 games. For me, I can still watch and learn from him being a young goalkeeper. 

"We have our own styles, but you do pick up things, most about game management. He is used to slowing the game down and that I what I have to do in the first team.

"Me and Davo came back and battled for the shirt. he got the nod, but that is how football works."
