Ochre Dike clean up campaign August volunteer session

The project to clear up and maintain a historic Sheffield waterway continues with a volunteer day on Saturday August 27.

Ochre Dike is a small stream that rises in the Gleadless Townend area and meanders past Crystal Peaks before joining the River Rother in nearby Beighton.

Crystal Peaks shopping mall has a long running project with the Riverside Stewardship Company to restore the neglected waterway as part of its campaign to support the environment and volunteers are always welcome to join the scheme.

The River Stewardship Company (RSC) was established by a group of public and third sector partners including Sheffield City Council, Groundwork Sheffield, Sheffield Wildlife Trust, Environment Agency, South Yorkshire Forest, Five Weirs Walk Trust and Upper Don Walk Trust.

It undertakes riverside management work and community projects involving local communities and volunteers.
