Occupants heard screaming as house goes up in flames in Sheffield this morning

The occupants of a house were heard screaming as their house went up in flames in the early hours of this morning.

Residents on Grange Crescent, Sharrow, said screams could be heard from the semi-detached home as the property was engulfed in flames.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said crews were deployed to the blaze at 2.15am and there were around six people in the property when the flames took hold.

Three crews responded to calls about the blaze and spent around two hours at the scene.

Ambulances were also deployed but it is not yet known whether anyone was injured.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze has been launched.

A Sharrow resident who lives close to the house said: “I am really worried about the occupants, they were screaming for help. Hoping they're okay.

“The police are at the scene currently.”
