Eighty-Eighty year old artist Edwin Wraith from Catcliffe, Rotherham has proven youre never too old to achieve after his artwork was selected to feature as part of the UKs largest Gallery Town.

Edwin Wraith, from Catcliffe, Rotherham, has his work on display as part of the Gallery Town project - an initiative to help improve the appearance of the town.

The open air gallery recently refreshed 25 works of art with Edwin’s among those now on display.

His piece, Old Rotherham, is positioned above the Yorkshire Bank on Bridgegate in the town centre.

Edwin, a former milkman, became an artist in his fifties when he was unable to work after breaking an ankle.

He said he began to sketch and paint to ease his boredom.

This hobby soon became a passion and Edwin has not looked back since Gallery Town Project Manager, Ged Omar said: “It is critical that we display work from artists of all ages, nationalities, backgrounds and abilities, so Edwin’s work has been put on display alongside those of international masters like Edvard Munch.”

Edwin said:“To have a piece of artwork up in my hometown is something I am very proud of. Painting is a great passion of mine and to think that people will be able to see my work on display in the open air is fantastic.”
