A pensioner is being treated in hospital for serious head injuries after she was rescued from a sickening accident on a Doncaster farm.

Emergency services were called to the farm, off Bilham Lane, Bilham, near Brodsworth, at the weekend after the 65-year-old woman became trapped under a forklift truck.

Adwick and Dearne station firefighters, along with a technical rescue unit, were called to help release the casualty and spent more than an hour at the scene.

Police say she has suffered life threatening head injuries.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said yesterday: “It is reported that the woman sustained the injury when she became trapped under the bucket section of a fork lift truck at the farm.

“The woman was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary where she is currently receiving treatment.”

The spokesman added there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

The woman has not been named and her family are said to be too upset to make any comment on what happened to her.
