Non-League: Sheffield FC have been too 'gung-ho' this term, admits boss Andy Kiwomya

Club are still looking for their first win of 2016 as they welcome the Nottingham side to the Coach and Horses ground.

Kiwomya’s men won the reverse fixture 2-1 in September thanks to second half goals from Conor Glavin and Ollie Graham.

And the boss is expecting a similarly close encounter.

“They’re a good team - they are not third in the table for nothing,” he said.

“They have pacy forwards, are very good on the counter attack and carry a goal threat.

“I think the way they play suits them better away from home.

“We’re a team that likes to get forward too so we’ve been susceptible to that style of counterattacking play particularly at home, so we will have to make sure we guard against that.

“Sometimes we’ve been far to gung-ho at home when trying to win games and have got caught out at the back.

“We need to remedy that and become more balanced in our play between attacking and defending.

“When we get a lead we make it hard for ourselves seeing games out, we have to manage that much better.”

Club have slipped to 18th in Division One South after picking up just one point from the last 15 available.

“We know we need to start putting some points on the board,” said Kiwomya.

“We’ve had a break now due to the weather, so it’s important we get straight into a good rhythm.

“We’ve brought in a couple of new players this week – Jordan Tuner from Parkgate and Saul Henderson from Droylsden.

“We’ve had a chance to work with them in training and get them integrated into the squad so hopefully they can hit the ground running.”

Kiwomya could be boosted by the return of defender Hamzet Hafeez who has been out since suffering knee injury in the 1-0 win at Stocksbridge on Boxing Day.

Basford arrive in good form having won five in an unbeaten run of seven games.

Meanwhile, striker Ashley Worsfold has returned to parent club Buxton after his loan spell expired.

Stocksbridge Park Steels face a tough trip to play-off chasing Lincoln United.

Steels boosted their own hopes of a top five finish with a 2-0 win over another of the promotion hopefuls Chasetown in the last outing.

“Lincoln’s a very hard place to go and get a result,” admitted boss Chris Hilton.

“They’re a big strong solid side so its going to be tough.

“We got a bit of a thumping there last season but we’re a much better team now.

“We’ve been in decent form lately so hopefully we can go there and get a positive result.”

Steels will be without striker Scott Ruthven and midfielder Adam Hinchliffe through suspension but winger Spencer Maw – on-loan from Sheffield United – will remain at the club for a further month.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce will look to consolidate their place in the play-offs with a win at out-of sorts Daventry Town.

The hosts have lost the last five on the spin which has seen them plummet into the bottom six, while the Ducks are unbeaten in the last eight away.
