Earlier this month Tessa Lupton, from Fox Hill, was revealed as the first winner of The Moor Pride in Sheffield Community Champion Awards, and now a second worthy candidate is sought.

The 32-year-old was nominated for her campaign to get new play equipment installed for children in Wolfe Road Park, which had been repeatedly targeted by vandals.

Awards are being handed out over the coming year to individuals who work hard to improve the lives of others but don't always get the recognition they deserve.

Two champions will be picked from each of the six parliamentary constituencies. Tessa lived in the Brightside & Hillsborough district, and the next area of focus will be Sheffield Central.

Winners are being highlighted in The Star each month and on a special display on The Moor, where thousands will see their story. The campaign is being run alongside Aberdeen Asset Management, which owns the revamped shopping street and is giving each champion £250 to put towards their community cause. Recipients are also in line to collect special treats from the development's shops and attractions including The Light cinema and Primark.

Posters featuring Tessa have just gone on display on The Moor. Centre manager Amanda Phillips said: "Tessa and her group are just the type of community activity that The Moor is keen to recognise and support. Tessa’s determination will help provide equipment for her local park to help address anti-social behaviour.

"She is an ideal choice for our first community champion. We look forward to entries to choose our next worthy candidate.”

Tessa's name was put forward by her local councillor Tony Damms who, along with his fellow Southey members, set aside £10,000 from their ward pot for improvements to Wolfe Road Park. Her campaign stemmed from discussions with other mothers at a Fox Hill toddler group. From there, she set up the Friends of Wolfe Road Park group on Facebook, and began to speak to council representatives about her ambitions for the site.
