Nominate now for Voluntary Action Sheffield's Make A Difference Awards
Nominations are now open for Sheffield's Make A Difference Award.
Following the successful inaugural ceremony in 2016, Voluntary Action Sheffield has announced that this year's awards ceremony will be held on November 22.
Lord Mayor Magid Magid will present the awards in a ceremony at the Octagon Centre which will recognise and celebrate the quiet heroes of local community groups, charities and voluntary organisations and the huge contribution they make to the city.
Maddy Desforges, chief executive at Voluntary Action Sheffield, said: 'Too often, we in the sector are almost apologetic that, despite our best efforts, we can't do everything, for everybody all of the time.
'The reality is that every day, and often with very little resources, people across the city achieve amazing things making a real difference to people's lives.
'It is our privilege at Voluntary Action Sheffield to support and work with around 800 local community and voluntary groups each year, and we are delighted to help celebrate the amazing breadth and diversity of voluntary and community work happening in Sheffield.'
There are seven awards categories this year:Â Employment and Skills, Health and Wellbeing,
Inclusion and Equality, Resilient Communities, Sheffield Volunteering, Voice and Influence and the
Champion of the Sector. Nominations for the awards close at 5pm on September 28. Shortlisted organisations will be promoted through VAS and get a short film made about their activities that they can go on to use after the ceremony.
