Nominate areas for a big spring clean

Sanctuary Housing, in conjunction with Sheffield City Council, is organising a litter pick in the neighbourhood next month, and is keen to hear from locals as to where they should be focusing their efforts.

The charity, which was established in 1969, is also encouraging volunteers to get in touch if they would like to offer a hand in collecting litter, between 10am and 3pm on Friday March 3, with a free lunch and prizes offered to those taking part.

Sophie Kirk, Sanctuary Housing’s neighbourhood partnerships officer for Shiregreen, said: “This is the latest in a series of litter picks that bring the community together but this time we want to hear suggestions from residents on where to focus our efforts.

“This is just one of the environmental projects we support to ensure our neighbourhoods are green and clean places to live.”

The event coincides with The Great British Spring Clean campaign, to bring together people from across the country to clear up litter between March 3 and 5. Volunteers who wish to participate will meet outside the Sanctuary Housing office in Beck Road, Shiregreen, shortly before 10am on March 3 when they will be provided with equipment.

Sanctuary is supporting the event through its Community Investment Fund, which benefits Sanctuary residents and their communities.
