No wonder time is flying
Don’t know how some people are supposed to sort out the payments because the weekly payment scheme is all over the place.
Payment can be made in a few ways, a one-off payment, two six- monthly payments, monthly ones, they also have a weekly payment scheme, which you would expect to be based on a 52-weekly payment.

Ours was 7 weekly payments of £12+.
Great up to now, until I talked to my next-door neighbour, same type of house, same circumstances, a couple, same payment plan?
No, theirs was a £15+ weekly payment over 31 weeks.
I decided to get in touch with them to find out what the idea was and was told it was to give people a break in their payments.
How considerate of them, but why are there different plans for different people?

However, payment to the council was around £455 per year and Severn Trent’s is £477.
A lot of people who don’t understand the payments will be forced to pay the full amount in one go.
Now why Severn Trent didn’t send out a letter to customers explaining payment plans so everyone could understand them is beyond me.
Would it have been that hard to state?
One-off payment: X amount.
Two six-monthly payments: X amount.
Monthly payment: X amount.
Weekly payment: X amount.

By the way I got my payments sorted 47 weeks at £9+, that’s right 47 weeks.
When did we lose five weeks of our year?
No wonder that time is flying.

Reach for the delete button
Scammers will keep on trying.
I had a near miss a while back with my phone provider – we are no fools but were nearly taken for one.
The constant emails telling me that I have parcels that need to be delivered and I need to ring this number as a matter of urgency or my parcels will be returned asap.

Hide AdDo they seriously think that people will fall for this, ring in then be charged hundreds for the call.
I know everything I buy, because I buy a lot of it, (I then hide it in the wardrobe, so hubby doesn’t see it).
Only one thing happens to those emails and that is me reaching for the delete button.

Opposite effect
I have to agree will S Collins, (S5),with his views on road humps, among other things.

Hide AdI honestly think they actually have the opposite effect for what they were originally designed for.
When they were first introduced, they were nicknamed sleeping policemen, the idea being to slow down joy riders.
Well let’s give them their proper name first, car thieves not joy riders. So a car thief is not bothered one iota about damaging the car because it’s not his.
As for slowing drivers down cause less accidents, I don’t that’s worked either.

Hide AdIn fact I would like to bet there have been more accidents, especially where they place three small ones across a road.
How many of us have come across a situation where we approach these humps and there’s a car parked up before one of these and there’s a car coming towards you and have to actually swerve to avoid the car parked up and the one coming towards you?
Add to this, some of these a situated beside a bus stop for some stupid reason, make them downright dangerous.
I think someone needs to admit they do not work as a safety device and need to have a re-think.

Why stop there?

Hide AdEB Warris has come up with a great idea about selling off the crown jewels.
Why not stop there?
The government are suggesting old people should downsize and live in smaller properties.
So why not get the Queen to sell off Sandringham, Windsor, Balmoral, Buckingham Palace and other similar properties.
This would be the first step in solving the housing problem.

Hide AdThe mystery Civil war cannon ball found in the River Don, (The Star, May 1), looks remarkably like the weight from a bench fly press.
Images of fly presses and their weights can be found at www.usedflypress.com and elsewhere on the internet, so you can check for yourselves whether it’s a cannonball or not.

Get yourself a horse
It seems that if your dog decides to relieve itself by crapping, for the want of a better word, while you are out walking, unless you clear it up you will be fined.
So get rid of the dog and get a horse, because they are not subject to the same laws as dogs.
So any dung they leave is somebody ‘ problem and you can merrily carry on with your walk.
