According to The Sun, Stacey Flounders, 26, "fought back the tears" after leaving the jail on her own after visiting the ex-Sunderland star who is serving a six-year sentence for sex offences against a 15-year-old fan.

The newspaper reported that the England winger, 28, is desperate to hold 15-month-old Ayla after not seeing her since April.

A source is reported as telling the newspaper: “Adam was really upset that she didn’t bring Ayla along because he hasn’t seen her since being locked up.

“Stacey is still not sure about bringing her to prison and changes her mind hourly. Adam has told her apart from his appeal, it’s the one thing that keeping him going inside."

“He’s kept his head down and the guards and inmates are treating him well. Seeing Adam upset just piles the pressure back on Stacey.”

Stacey dumped Johnson during his trial but has visited him several times at Moorland since he was locked up.

The shamed footballer's sister Faye, 23, is masterminding a social media campaign for Johnson’s appeal.
