A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "The incidents are not connected."

Last February, 23-year-old Aseel Al-Essaie was shot dead on nearby Daniel Hill, Upperthorpe.

He was shot in a drive-by shooting as he pulled up in a car ahead of a family event to celebrate his twin sister's engagement.

Matthew Cohen, 29, Dale Gordon, 33 and Keil Bryan, 32, were found guilty of murder on a 'joint enterprise' basis after a trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

Cohen admitted that he was driving the car from which the gun was fired but he denied knowing that the attack was planned and he refused to name the killer.

The prosecution case was that Gordon pulled the trigger and that Bryan was in the back of the car but all those involved in the drive-by shooting were jointly responsible.

Cohen, of Clough Wood Road, Oughtibridge; Gordon, of Benty Lane, Crosspool and Bryan, of Brackley Street, Burngreave, are due to be sentenced next week.

James Good, 30, of Ringstead Crescent, Crosspool, is also to be sentenced after pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice over the burning of the car used in the drive-by shooting.

Anyone with information on the two latest incidents should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
