Snow began to fall heavily across Sheffield on Tuesday night and well into Wednesday morning with many roads suffering from the wintry conditions.

Buses, trams and trains have been badly affected by the weather and many motorists have decided not to brave Sheffield’s roads.

Travel South Yorkshire have warned motorists to only make essential journeys today with more snow expected to fall across the region.

However, if you must travel, the Met Office have warned it is crucial that you have a few items in your car in case you get stuck.
