Night of comedy organised to help South Yorkshire flood relief efforts

This December, The Leadmill in Sheffield will play host to a Giggle Aid, a comedy benefit night for the British Red Cross, which has recently been helping out people in the region following the devastating River Don floods.

The event will celebrate its 10th birthday this year as it returns to the Leadmill on Sunday 8 December.

Acts include comedians including Sheffield local Rob Rouse - and all of those on the bill are performing for free.

After entertaining punters for three hours, the night will end with an exclusive charity auction and raffle where top prizes will be up for grabs.

The emergency response volunteers from the British Red Cross have been extremely busy supporting people affected by the recent flooding in South Yorkshire.

Over the last two weeks they have helping to run rest centres, assisting at recovery hubs, distributing supplies and checking on vulnerable residents in the Doncaster area.

Helen Whale, Senior Community Fundraiser for the British Red Cross Yorkshire, said: “It’s been a really busy time for the British Red Cross in our region.

“Coming to Giggle Aid will not only ensure a great night out, but will help the Red Cross to continue to be there to support communities in crisis whenever and wherever we are needed.

“We’re really grateful to the comedians who are donating their time and talent to the cause, and we hope to see a full house of Sheffield comedy lovers on the night. I’d highly recommend getting your tickets soon, before they are all snapped up!”
