Night at the dogs will boost Sheffield’s transplant games

Have your say

ON your marks, get set to boost the transplant games in Sheffield later this year.

But you don’t have to be an inspirational transplant survivor to help out.

A night at the dogs at the city’s Owlerton Stadium, Hillsborough, will raise cash to deliver the games and also vital awareness of the NHS Organ Donor Register.

For a £12 special offer, racegoers can enjoy entry, a racecard, three drinks, two £1 bets on the dogs and food on Tuesday, February 19.

Transplant athletes and supporters from a local group have organised the evening.

And the event will hopefully help sign up 12,000 new donors before the games - a campaign which is being backed by The Star.

The first race is at 6.38pm on the night and turnstiles open at 6pm. The last race is at 10.30pm.

Contact Alison Bridge by emailing or call 0114 2573170 to book tickets.

n Hundreds of transplant patients are to take part in events at venues across the city in the Westfield Health British Transplant Games from August 15 to 18.
