NEWS IN BRIEF: Stolen tractor left to burn itself out

A STOLEN tractor set ablaze in a field was out of reach of firefighters’ hoses and had to be left to burn out.

Crews attended the incident off Mortimer Road, Maltby, Rotherham, at 8.25pm on Saturday. They monitored the fire for more than an hour until it went out. Police have been informed.

Allotment blaze

RESIDENTS were woken from their sleep after arsonists set fire to a shed on allotments nearby in Barnsley. Crews were called to the plot off Carlton Road, Smithies, at 2.15am yesterday. A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the blaze was the latest in a string of anti-social fires started in the area recently.

Missing man found

A MAN reported missing from his home for over a week has been found safe and well. Paul Crowhurst, aged 43, of Holberry Gardens, Broomhall, Sheffield, disappeared on Friday, July 27. He was later found in the Endcliffe Park area of the city.
