News In Brief: Police still probing fatal road collision

TRAFFIC was disrupted on Brightside Lane, Sheffield, on Tuesday afternoon while police continued enquires into a fatal road traffic collision which happened a week previously.

Adrian Keeton, aged 50, of Grimesthorpe, died after his Renault Trafic van was involved in a collision with a Rover 75 at the junction with the A6109 Brightside Lane in Attercliffe.

Sofa smoke drama

FIREFIGHTERS searched a house for occupants after a sofa caught fire outside, sending plumes of smoke indoors.

When crews were called to Bartholomew Street, Wombwell, Barnsley, at 7.50pm on Tuesday, they thought at first the house was on fire.

The blaze is thought to have been started by a discarded cigarette dropped earlier in the day.

Cannabis in units

POLICE found more than 60 cannabis plants growing in a unit on the Hillstown Industrial Estate, Bolsover.

Officers raided the property on Mansfield Road at 4.15pm on Monday and found the plants. They arrested two men on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

Cooker fire out

FIRE crews who were called to a cooker fire on Greystones Road, Greystones, Sheffield, found the flames already out when they arrived.

Nobody was injured in the incident at 7.15pm on Tuesday.

Burglary arrest

OFFICERS investigating a break-in on Gleadless Road, Gleadless Valley, Sheffield, during which a burglar was disturbed, arrested a man nearby.

The offence was reported on Saturday night.

Corsa set ablaze

A VAUXHALL Corsa found burning on Sheffield Road, Beighton, Sheffield, had been set alight deliberately.

The vehicle was parked when it was fired at 12.50am yesterday.

Vehicle stolen

A CAR was stolen from Longford Drive, Totley, Sheffield, after the keys were taken during a break-in at the house outside which it was parked.

The break-in happened on Sunday night.
