NEWS IN BRIEF: Old chemical plant fired by arsonists

PART of the former Coalite chemical plant in Bolsover was set on fire by vandals.

Firefighters from Bolsover station were alerted to the blaze in a derelict building at the plant in Buttermilk Lane at around 6.50pm on Tuesday.

Two firefighters using breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet extinguished the fire.

Vandals start fires

FIREFIGHTERS from Rivelin station were called to a skip fire in Rural Lane, Wisewood, at 9.45pm on Monday. The cause is thought to have been deliberate. And crews from Aston station were scrambled after an arsonist set fire to a large pile of rubbish on land off Wales Road in Kiveton at 9.50pm on Tuesday.

FIREFIGHTERS from Chesterfield were called after a fire was spotted in a wooded area of Highfield Park off Malson Way at around 8.35pm on Tuesday. They quickly dealt with the fire by using canvas buckets and water back-packs.
