EMERGENCY services are calling on drivers to make South Yorkshire’s roads collision-free tomorrow, to mark National Road Safety Day.
Safety events will include a demonstration in Peel Square, Barnsley, where firefighters and paramedics will show crowds how they rescue the victims of serious road smashes. Every day around 10 injury collisions are recorded on the roads of South Yorkshire.
There were rush hour delays on the outbound Sheffield Parkway yesterday morning after a car crash spilled diesel onto the carriageway. The smash caused traffic backlogs along Derek Dooley Way as far as Furnival Street. Police were at the scene and partially closed off a lane of the Parkway.
