NEWS IN BRIEF: Man in court over murder of toddler

A MAN has appeared in court charged with murdering a toddler who died in Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Little Amelia Bowmar had been admitted suffering head injuries. Darryl Elliott, aged 29, of Sandringham Drive, Lincolnshire, is accused of killing the 14-month-old, who was transferred to Sheffield from hospital in Grimsby.

Elliott appeared at Lincoln Crown Court yesterday and was remanded in custody.

Vehicles set alight

a VAUXHALL Cavalier found burning on Sycamore House Road, Shiregreen, Sheffield, had been deliberately set alight at 2am yesterday. A flat bed van set alight in the grounds of Charlton Nurseries, High Green, Sheffield at 4am yesterday. Fire crews tackled both blazes.
