A MAN has been charged with robbery and possessing a knife after a student was robbed in Weston Park in Sheffield last Tuesday.

Billy Willoughby, aged 21, of Maltravers Crescent, Wybourn, Sheffield, was remanded in custody and is due at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday.

Safety lesson

STUDENTS are taking lessons with a life-saving message on improving driving. More than 200 teens at Dearne Valley College, Rotherham, will benefit from Drive For Life, focusing on the danger of speeding, drink and drug driving, the importance of seatbelts and avoiding distractions.

Purge on mess

DOG fouling and litter around shopping parades in Birley Moor Road and Ballifield Drive, Sheffield are being tackled by Police Community Support Officer Anna Smith and council environmental enforcement officer Chris Lukins. They will erect signs and fine offenders.

Fire in washer

FIREFIGHTERS isolated the power supply to a washing machine in a house on Knowle Road, Worsbrough Dale, Barnsley, after it caught fire through an electrical fault. The fire did not spread.

Van set alight

A VAN was set ablaze in a field off Brierley Road, Grimethorpe, Barnsley. A motorbike was set alight in Concord Park, Shiregreen, Sheffield.
