News In Brief: Girl cuts toe in soft play area

BOSSES at the Frenchgate Centre closed the soft play area at the venue after a child suffered a cut to her big toe while playing.

The child was given first aid to stop the bleeding, and the cut was cleaned and bandaged without the need for hospital treatment.

A spokesman for the shopping centre said: “We closed the soft play area to investigate the source of the cut, and found no evidence of any dangerous or miscellaneous objects.’’

Concert date

A BRASS and voices concert is due to be held in Armthorpe later this month.

Armthorpe Elmfield Band will be performing along with Brackley Male Voice Choir at the event at Armthorpe Community Centre on Saturday, September 24. Tickets for the 7pm performance are available from the centre, priced £5.

Charity Zumba

FANS of the dance craze Zumba are being invited to take part in a four hour extravaganza at Doncaster School for the Deaf.

The Zumbathon at the Leger Way site on Sunday is in aid of the British Heart Foundation charity and runs from 2.30pm until 6.30pm. It costs £5 to take part.

Night of song

CONISBROUGH Baptist Chapel is holding an evening of song on Tuesday, September 13, featuring singer Carey Williams. The event will start at 7.30pm and admission is free.

Memorial boost

A COLLECTION at the Red Lion pub in Cadeby raised £90 for the Cadeby Main Memorial Group.
