ARSONISTS set two cars alight yards from a garage containing flammable gas cylinders.

The Hyundai Atoz and Nissan Urvan were parked on a drive on Wath Road, Bolton-on-Dearne, and were set on fire at 11.15pm on Tuesday.

Firefighters from Dearne station managed to stop the blaze spreading to the nearby garage containing acetelyne cylinders, narrowly avoiding the need to evacuate neighbouring houses.

Man’s lucky escape

A MOTORIST was cut free but suffered only minor injuries when his car overturned in a crash with parked vehicles on East Bank Road, Arbourthorne, Sheffield. The Citroen C5 ended up on its side at around 7.35pm on Tuesday. The road was closed near East Road and Kenninghall Road until 9.05pm.

Stolen car fired

FIREFIGHTERS put out a burning saloon car which was stolen then set alight on Morton Lane, West Handley, Chesterfield, at 8.10pm on Tuesday.
