A MAN was killed yesterday in the second fatal accident in less than a week on the same stretch of road near Doncaster.
The air ambulance took the casualty from Serlby crossroads, between Bawtry and Blyth, to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield but he died from his injuries after arrival.
The crash involved two cars and a van at the crossroads on the A614, which is a known accident blackspot. It happened around 8.40am and fire crews from Harworth and Worksop arrived to find one of the drivers trapped.
He was released by 9.12am and given first aid before being flown to hospital. The other drivers were shaken but uninjured.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and the road, which links Bawtry to the A1(M), was closed for most of yesterday.
Diversions were in place but motorists were advised to avoid the area and take alternative routes.
The crash scene is less than a mile from where Cantley motorcyclist Karl Micklethwaite, aged 26, was killed in a collision with a car on Monday afternoon.
Anyone with any information about yesterday’s incident is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
