NEWS IN BRIEF: Chickens killed in Sheffield arson attack

CHICKENS have been killed in an arson attack at Loxley Valley Community Farm, Sheffield.

The farm was set up in 2009 and is run entirely by volunteers. Fire broke out in the farm’s chicken hut and several of the hens died.

“Everyone at the farm is terribly upset by this,” said a farm spokesman. Anyone with information about the blaze - which happened overnight on March 30, is urged to call police on 101 quoting incident 312 of March 31.

Bring your clutter

THE Moor branch of supermarket Sainsbury’s is holding a Bring Out Your Clutter week for St Luke’s Hospice. Clothing, books, CDs, DVDs, bric-a-brac and household goods are welcome at the store between now and Easter Monday. They will then be passed to the new St Luke’s Hospice shop in Bellhouse Road, Firth Park, which opens on Wednesday.

Cookery class

PUPILS at Westbourne School in Broomhill, Sheffield, will be whipping up dishes from Africa, Italy and the Caribbean at their annual Easter holiday cookery class from April 17 to 19.
