Elderly motorist hurt in accident
A PENSIONER was rescued after driving his car down an embankment and hitting a tree.
The man, in his 80s, suffered head and neck injuries after crashing his Toyota Yaris off Bramwell Street, Netherthorpe, Sheffield, at 10.30am on Wednesday. Firefighters cut him out of the vehicle, brought him up the embankment on a stretcher and placed him in an ambulance which took him to the Northern General Hospital.
FIREFIGHTERS were called to a street in Lodge Moor, Sheffield, when a property was hit by lightning. The house, on Harlech Grove, was hit after 1pm on Wednesday during stormy weather. Firefighters checked the houses but none were damaged.
