Woman driver hurt in city road smash

A WOMAN was hurt in a car collision which closed a busy Sheffield road yesterday.

A grey Ford Mondeo and a blue Rover 45 Classic were involved in the crash on Abbeydale Road at about 1pm. Police said the woman driving the Rover appeared to have suffered a slight injury. Abbeydale Road heading out of the city was closed from Sheldon Road after the incident.

Pizza shop blaze

A PIZZA shop was damaged by fire mid-way through a refurbishment. Dominic’s Pizza on Barnsley Road, Goldthorpe, was found alight at 4.38am on Monday, and when firefighters arrived they found the ceiling of the shop and floor of the flat above burning. The cause was accidental.

Lorry driver injured

A LORRY driver was taken to hospital on a spine board after a crash with another HGV on the M18 on Monday morning. He was travelling southbound along the slip road to the M1 near junction 32 at Thurcroft when the collision occurred at around 5.40am.
