It will be a family affair at a Doncaster town council after a wife joined her husband on the team.
Tickhill Town Council’s new clerk is Margaret Cannings-Clough.
The Tickhill Residents’ Association member is the wife of Coun Nigel Cannings and was interviewed for the position along with one other applicant.
The council agreed that the new clerk, who started in her role in June, will be subject to the usual three-month probationary period.
Mrs Cannings-Clough, who lives in Vine Road, was previously the internal auditor of the council’s financial accounts.
She takes over from Joone Oliver, who resigned earlier this year after only a few months when she found the hours she was spending on council business were longer than she expected.
The previous long-serving clerk, Alan Jillott, was drafted back in as temporary cover until the new clerk was selected.
