HE could be the heavyweight champion of your heart.

Introducing Rocky, a patient, good-looking and loving dog who is hoping to win himself a new owner and a home to call his own.

RSPCA Sheffield branch animal care manager Tony Benham says: “Rocky is a crossbreed lurcher who is about seven years old.

“Rocky is a long-legged, lovable fellow. He is inquisitive, intelligent and captivating and the minute you meet him, you just warm to him.

“This poor guy has been in kennels on and off throughout his life through no fault of his own and, like his film character, he’s earned the right to a permanent, happy home with plenty of input.

“We are looking for a home where Rocky will be the only pet and bring his new owners lots of love, loyalty and fun.

“A lovely looking dog, Rocky has super sleek black fur, and bits of snowy white speckles on his chest and nose. He has no known health issues and he is an unfussy eater who eats a normal diet.

“However, Rocky only has part of his tongue which was damaged before he came to the RSPCA and, whilst it doesn’t cause him any pain, he can be a bit messy with his eating.

Rocky loves human attention and relaxing with people.

Due to his sometimes bubbly and inquisitive nature, if his new home were to have children, it would be best if they were teenagers who might want to be part of his development and obedience work.

He will need around two 30 minute walks a day.

RSPCA Sheffield, which also needs foster homes, is open every day except Wednesday from 12.30pm until 3.30pm.
