New Sheffield bar on Ecclesall Road responds to rumours it has 'closed down'

The Three Monkeys Bar in Sheffield opened their doors to customers in April on the site of the former Botanical pub.

However, rumours began to spread online this weekend that the bar had closed down.

A customer on Sheffield Forum posted: "Does anyone know whats happened to the Three Moneys Bar on Ecclesall Road?

"Went down last night and its closed. All outdoor lights look like they have been ripped off the trees.

"Such a shame if its closed down after a few months of being open."

However, a spokesperson for the Three Monkeys told the Star that the bar was undergoing a refurbishment.

The bar said that they had decided to renovate to prepare for the return of the students and would be hoping to open again between late September and early October.

Three Monkeys opened up on the site of the former Botanical pub which closed down a number of years ago.

The 'chilled-out- bar was open seven days a week from 4pm; serving homemade tapas food with plans to launch a lunch menu in the coming months.
