New sewer for Hackenthorpe

Have your say

YORKSHIRE Water has upgraded 1,130 metres of the ageing sewer network in Hackenthorpe, Sheffield, in a bid to reduce leaks and pollution of local watercourses.

Matt Thompson, of Yorkshire Water, said: “Customers in the area have been incredibly supportive and patient while this vital work has been going on, so we’d like to say a big thank you to them.

“We hope this work will help reduce the risk of potential pollution problems nearby, and it highlights our commitment to improving Yorkshire’s watercourses.”

The company is urging people to reduce the risk of blockages by not pouring cooking fat down their kitchen drains, and not flushing nappies, cotton buds and sanitary products down toilets.
