THE DEPUTY head teacher at a Rotherham school for children with special needs has been appointed to head up Yorkshire’s first free special school - Lighthouse School, in Leeds.

Tim Gleave is moving from Abbey School, in Rotherham, to start at the new school in September.

He said: “I feel privileged to be entrusted with the leadership of a school that aims to enhance and extend the learning, inclusion and life opportunities of its pupils and their families.”
