New role for prosecutor

SOUTH Yorkshire's chief crown prosecutor is leaving the service to take up a similar post in Nottinghamshire.

Judith Walker started as a defence solicitor and worked her way to the top of the Crown Prosecution Service. She was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list this year.

Judith - who is to be succeeded by Nigel Cowgill - is moving on to a new post as chief crown prosecutor for Nottinghamshire and will also take on the role of group chairwoman for the East Midlands.

She said: “I have always worked in South Yorkshire and have had the pleasure of working with an excellent, dedicated team of people who I will be very sad to leave.”
