science-mad students can study a new course in Barnsley.
The town’s sixth form college is offering a new A Level from September in applied science.
It covers the more practical aspects of the subject, including forensic science, chemical processes, studying cells and human body activity, and is assessed mainly by coursework.
Course leader Liam Walton said: “For students interested in science this new course provides a way to study it alongside other A Level subjects and gives many more options for continuing their study at university.
“It is an interesting and varied course and great for people interested in a future careers such as nursing or midwifery, working as a paramedic or laboratory technician.”
